Rise Up and Walk

23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? 24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. 25 And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.  Luke 5:23-25 KJV

Jesus was in the midst of teaching a large group who had gathered which included Pharisees and Scribers or experts of the law. The bible records the power of the Lord was present to heal them. During this teaching, a group of men tore off the roof and lowered down a man sick of the palsy in the midst of Jesus. He rewarded their faith by forgiving the man of his sins. Immediately the Pharisees and Scribes begin to reason among themselves concerning Jesus ability and authority to forgive sins. Jesus proved not only does he have the ability to forgive sins but also to heal by telling the man to Arise and take up the very thing that had been taking him around.

Do you remember when you came to the understanding that your sin was forgiven?  I have seen many have their sin forgiven, but not walking in their healing. The man's sickness was the palsy; a loss of ability to move a body part and a uncontrollable tremor. When sin sets up residence in your life you lose the ability to obey God and fulfill the assignment He has placed you in the earth to do. I want you to know that Jesus has not only saved you from your sin but has also healed you of that which desires to hinder or control your life.

I am reminded that life is a journey and not a race given to the fastest nor a battle given to the strong, but the victory is given to the ones who endure unto the end. The good news is that your victory is already secured by Jesus. Today, I ask you in the name of Jesus to "Rise Up and Walk". The word walk is a common metaphor for your daily behavior and summation of your life.

The bible encourages you how to walk after you have been saved and healed. 1. Walk in Love - God's grace and mercy toward everyone you come into contact with. 2. Walk in the Spirit - the power/ability to carry out God's assignment in your life. 3. Walk by Faith - the confidence and trust that with God all things are possible. 4. Walk in the Light - in truth of God's word, in a way that is consistent with scripture.

In closing, I ask you to respond to Jesus as the man who was sick of the palsy did, he immediately rose up before them... This is your hour and your time to Rise Up and Walk!

Love, Peace and Blessing,
Pastor Eric
