Make Room For Jesus

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the innLuke 2:6-7

We are close to wrapping up another busy year and the world did not end as some had predicted. Therefore, we will continue to rejoice that we are in the land of the living. The days between Christmas and New Year's affords us the opportunity to reflect, as well as prepare for the upcoming year. An important question to ask yourself; did you make  room for Jesus?

In the text above, we see Mary, the mother of Jesus prudent at wrapping up her child and creatively providing a place of comfort. In order for our love for Jesus, our Savior to remain a priority, care   and  creativity are characteristics  we must nurture. We are all challenged with the busyness of life.

Jesus is our  good shepherd who comes to give us life and it more abundantly. It's in Him that we live, move, and have our being. This tells us we can't have true life outside of Jesus.

It is easy to become busy doing life and the Lord's work, while forgetting the Lord of life and work. Jesus spoke of those who will come at the end of time and say, Lord Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? cast out devils in your name? and do many works in your name? He will answer them and say, get away from me you workers of iniquity, for I never knew you. He wants us to make room for Him.

I sense we all need to re-calibrate as the year is ending.  In Revelation 2, we find a remedy. The word tells us to remember from where we have fallen, repent, and return to our first works. Our first work is loving Jesus!

Much Love and Respect,

Pastor Eric
