Wise Relationships

Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.  Proverbs 13:20 - The Message Bible

I am sure you desire to become wiser.  To be wise is to have the ability to discern or judge that which is true, right, or lasting; insight.  The book of James says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God that giveth to all men liberally."  King Solomon asked God for wisdom and he became known as the wisest man in the world. God is your source of wisdom needed for insight to take oversight.

As a believer, you will grow wise from your vertical relationship with God in Heaven. You must also take value in your horizontal relationships in the Earth. Psalm 1 tells you, "Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly." You must make wise decisions on who you will walk or be in relationship with. According to the text, if we hang out with fools our lives will fall to pieces.

The bible speaks of two kinds of wisdom, one Earthly and the other Heavenly.  The Earthly wisdom is described as being unspiritual and devilish and displayed by actions of envy, bitterness, and selfishness.  In contrast, Heavenly wisdom is described as being Godly and pure and displayed by actions of peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

If you desire to walk in greater wisdom, take an inventory of those who are influencing you. It could be a family member, friend, entertainer, artist, politician or athlete.

What is the source of their wisdom? Who's influencing them?  You will be able to tell by their characteristic traits/fruit of their lives. Just like children who have friends, teachers, or role models that impact them positively or negatively, so it is with you.

Your Heavenly Father wants you to be wise beyond your years. It begins with spending time with Him and making wise choices on who will influence your life in the earth.  May the spirit of wisdom and understanding rest upon you as you choose to walk with wise people.

Much Love and Respect,

Pastor White
