The Potter's House
1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Jeremiah 18:1-4 KJV
The Lord our God has something to say and to show you! As with Jeremiah, He desires to speak with you and reveal His will. He wants to give you insight for oversight concerning your life, family and surroundings. In the text above, let's gleam some lessons that will allow you to get this much needed insight.
1. Arise and go down. I have learned if I am going to hear from God, I must go down. Going down represents you humbling yourself as a living sacrifice before your heavenly Father. The challenge is not knowing what to do, but doing it. You must be obedient and disciplined to make it a habit of going down and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit when he tells you to get down.
2. God causes you to hear his words. As you are willing to go down, the heavenly Father promises that He has a message specifically for you. He is waiting to impart wisdom that comes from above. He that has ears to hear, let them hear what the Lord is saying - Mark 4:9.
3. God causes you to see. When you come to a place of humility in your life He speaks and also desires to show you things to come. Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to call upon Him and He will answer you and show you great and mighty(hidden) things. He reveals unto you that He is in complete control of everything.
4. The Potter's House. As Jeremiah did, you must arise from your house; a place where you sit and govern and go down to the humble environment of the potters house. It's in this house that you realize God is the potter and everything else to include yourself is the clay. Your local church should be one of those places outside of your home where the Father meets and speaks with you. It's also the place were broken vessels are made new.
In closing, I encourage you to get down that you may hear what He is saying and see what He is doing that it may go well with you.
Much Love and Respect,
Pastor Eric
